Roof report workflow guide: measurement to production
Use roof report context throughout estimating, proposal scope, material planning and job handoff, with a reusable measurement review checklist.
By the HomeVision team
Review the report in the opportunity context
Confirm the property and intended work area before using a report. Review roof area, squares, pitch, facets and relevant edge classifications together. Area measurements and linear measurements answer different questions; retain their original units and labels.
Note access conditions, project-specific assumptions and anything the estimator needs to confirm. A roof measurement report supplies measurement context. The estimate still needs the selected products, scope, labor assumptions and project decisions.
Connect measurements to scope and presentation
Bring report context into the estimate rather than repeatedly retyping it in separate documents. Make waste and material assumptions explicit so another team member can understand the estimate structure.
In the homeowner proposal, explain the selected scope and options using the relevant report details. Keep the presentation readable: identify what the proposal covers, how options differ and what the customer is being asked to approve.
Carry the same context into production
Once work is approved, make the report, selected scope and material assumptions available to the team preparing the job. Link scheduling and material planning to the correct customer and project.
Record field changes alongside the original context and communicate their effect on scope. Use a consistent documentation and closeout process so the final project record connects what was measured, sold and delivered.
